It became time to retire old “Bessy”. Just kidding, we didn’t
really name our old cordless phone “Bessy”. But if we had named it Bessy would have been as good a name as any I suppose. But anyway it became time for a new cordless home phone. And we ended up trading in ol’ Bessy for a shiny hot new model!
VTECH 6.0 Digital Expandable Cordless Phone
Ten Year Old Cordless Too Scratchy to Use
Our old Uniden phone/answering machine worked very well for over ten years but the call quality had become very scratchy lately. Not sure if it wasn’t designed to keep up with all surrounding wireless internet signals or if it was just old but the calls were becoming too scratchy to use.
Blindly Picked New Phone Off Shelf
The careful research that went into buying a new cordless phone for our home included walking into a local electronics retailer and picking up a box that was on a lower shelf and was not labeled with a price close to $100. In fact it didn’t have a price at all.
What we ended up with was a VTECH 6.0 Digital Expandable Cordless Phone [hover mouse here to preview the VTECH price on Amazon.com

Great Phone, Great Price, Worthless Counter Help
It wasn’t until we got to the counter that the surly teenage clerk told us it was only $19.99. The price was right, now the question was how would it perform.
It works great! And it looks really cool. It actually took a little getting used to the design because it’s straight and not curved like our old cordless phone. And there is no large rubbery antenna. But it turns out with today’s technology you don’t need a rubbery antenna like a construction worker’s Motorola walkie-talkie.
