Ooma Mobile is a free service that Ooma Telo home phone customers can use to make calls from their iPhones and not have them count against their allotted minutes. And it turns an Apple iPad (compare prices on Amazon)
“Do iPads have allotted minutes?”, you might be asking, no but you can use an iPad as a phone when connected to an internet connection such as 3G or wi-fi by using the Ooma Mobile free app download. Here are some things to know:
- You must be an Ooma customer, meaning you have the Ooma device and service at home. It will be through this account that you access service through the Ooma mobile app
- Ooma mobile does not allow for incoming calls (yet)
- Ooma mobile is only available for use currently with the iPhone and iPad. Android and Blackberry apps are in development
