Your Questions About International Sim Card Prepaid

Should I get a prepaid At&t sim card or stick to my international roaming?

Hi everyone,

I’m gonna be visiting the US sometime next week and I need a little help in making a decision.

I live in Jamaica and I have an unlocked phone which can use any sim card. Right now my service provider is Digicel. Last time I went to the states I used the international roaming from digicel but it cost me a lot of money. I had about $20 on my digicel account and it was only able to give me roughly around 10 minutes of calls both receiving and making calls. Some calls where to or from Jamaica and some where from the states.

So this time I am thinking of getting a prepaid At&t sim card to use with my phone. I decided on At&t cause my fiance uses them as well so it would be cheaper for us. So would it be cheaper for me to get the prepaid sim card? How much would the activation cost be and if I dont use the sim card after a year would it still be active or do i have to reactivate it again?
