Your Questions About International Sim Card Tmobile

Helen asks…

International sim cards a cheap option?

What is the cheapest International SIM card I could use to make phone calls with in the US and EU countries? I don’t want to use it to make cals from the UK but when I get to the US and Amsterdam,Paris in Christams to other people in the same country? I have a lebara and Lyca sims, lebara provides 10MB free internet brownsing per day, I will need internet browsing but that doesn’t seem enough. I’m with Tmobile and they’re rates are expensive top ups. If I use Skype than will be stuck if the people I’m calling dont have it. PLease help
thanks for the replies but it seems I will have to buy these sim cards when I get to the country. If I want them to be at a cheap calls and txt with some browsing 10MB. Lebara you have to buy it when you get to the country or the sim purchased in the UK will cost you a fortune if using it to contact other phone users in that country. I need a sim I can buy in france and amsterdam 100 or 300 talkm min/ 120SMS
I don’t want to have to pay for it more than £10 if possible please help. Sorry for the bad grammar in a hurry ;)

Hi there,

I can only speak about my personal experience but I can tell you that before I’ve bought it I’ve made an exhaustive search about the subject and it was worth it because now I’m very happy with my decision.

Ok. Let’s keep it short :) My personal recommendation goes to WorldSIM, I travel a lot and it saved me loads of money in roaming. Good coverage, good service, and free incoming calls in several countries including the ones that you are mentioning. They also have data.

Check their website and see if it suits your needs (www.worldsim.com).

Hope it helps!

Cheers!

Maria asks…

I can’t use my network abroad and I don’t have an International SIM :( ?

I forgot to order one of those Global SIM cards online and will be traveling. I’m with Mobile, when I get to the netherlands, where on earth will I buy their local SIM card. If I find one in the airport, is it as simple as taking out the UK SIM and putting in the Norwegian SIM? Do I have to set it up, TMobile have told me that roaming is switched of so no worries. Tmobile mentioned that if I’m using the wifi in the airport I shouldn’t get charged for roaming but if I loose signal I will get charged will I’m still connected by tmobile?? Can somebody please clarify this? how can i browse the internet and send emails for free?
None of the UK phone providers sell Global SIM cards and don’t have time to order online before I leave, can I use one of those International calling cards my nana would use from a pay phone r would this in cure roaming charges? Please help

Pete answers:

If you don’t need to talk too much while travelling, just make sure roaming is enabled on your T-Mobile UK SIM, and stick with that. It should not cost more than approximately 35p to make and 15p to receive calls while travelling in Europe.

As for data roaming, be careful: wifi is usually free, but data roaming (browsing outside wifi coverage) can be very expensive! It’s better to have data-roaming deactivated by your operator, or on your phone (iphones let you do that in settings menu). Airport wifis are usually not free, so it’s better to look for one downtown in coffee shops, etc.

If you need to get a local SIM, just get one, it’s usually hassle-free: just pop it in and start calling. When in doubt, ask the local retailer, they’ll definitely help.

Hope this helps.
